As the Sunset Beach resort is family friendly there is plenty of activities and entertainment to suit everyone from kids to adults.  If you are staying for at least one week you will get to join in one beach party and barbecue during your stay. The various bars have their own individual style of entertainment from pianists to livelier dancing. Each day the resort runs a range of activities either on the beach or the surrounding areas. These are along the lines of sightseeing tours, non motorised sports in the ocean, team sports on the beach such as volley ball and underwater activities like snorkelling in the beautiful clear waters and much more.

The main attraction of this resort for families is the Pirates Paradise Water Park which features a selection of water slides, one of which is 35 ft high, water chutes, centred around a castle with pirates of the Caribbean themed boats for children to play in and hot tubs for the adults. Along with the amazing water park the resort has three freshwater swimming pools one of which has a swim up bar. If you want to avoid the pools you can choose from one of the three beaches surrounding the resort. One beach is clothing optional, perfect for the adults who don’t want to get tan lines!

The rooms at the Sunset Beach Resort are colourfully decorated giving a real authentic Caribbean feel to the rooms. The large standard rooms come with a king size bed, air conditioning, TV, ironing board, hairdryer and a balcony all of which you would expect from four star luxury accommodation. The standard room can fit a family of two adults and two children under 16. All standard rooms have a garden view and the opportunity to upgrade to a bay or ocean view room at an additional cost so you can awake each morning looking over the glistening ocean. For larger families there is a selection of two room suites which consist of a bedroom and living room as well as additional extras in the form of two 50 inch TVs and whirlpool baths.

The all inclusive package at the resort makes the holiday a lot less hassle and much better value for those with children who will need to drink a lot in the hot weather which would end up costly. The package includes all meals in the choice of restaurants, drinks and afternoon tea. There are three a la carte restaurants at the resort and these serve Asian, Italian and Caribbean food so there is something to suit most tastes. A buffet style restaurant serves a range of food from all over the world and it has special sections just for kids. You can’t go to the Caribbean and not taste some real authentic jerk chicken which is available from the Sunset Beach Grill snack bar along with other burgers and grilled food, served all day. The resort has a selection of bars to choose from depending on your preference for destination, décor and entertainment; these serve a range of soft, alcoholic and tropical drinks all of which are included in your all inclusive package.

Additional facilities for children staying at the resort include a playground and kids club for children aged 2 to 12 years and a teen activity centre. For adults there is a spa to enjoy with a range of treatments, saunas and massages at an additional cost.

The Riu Ocho Rios has a range of standard rooms, junior suites and deluxe seaside palace rooms which also come with access to exclusive restaurants in the hotel. All room types have the option to upgrade to a sea view room at an additional cost. The standard rooms sleeping up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children have everything you would expect of a five star hotel. Such features include air conditioning, satellite TV, fans and fully stocked mini bar for those late night drinks and snacks.  Junior suites are ideal for bigger parties with the additional living area with sofas.

As mentioned the Riu hotel in Ocho Rios has an excellent range of activities and entertainment programmes running daily, both during the day and evening with separate activities for adults and children many of which are included in your all inclusive package. Each guest is entitled to one free scuba diving lesson per stay in the hotel if desired you can then choose to do further snorkelling and scuba diving at the diving centre for an additional charge. The activities range from water sports including sailing and windsurfing, beach sports such as volley ball, tennis, golf and horse riding all available at the hotel or locally.

Each evening there is hotel organised entertainment and live music or you can choose to spend your evenings in one of the many bars, the night club or the casino.

For those of you who go on holiday for some r&r, don’t worry the hotel more than caters for you as well with a luxury spa, Jacuzzis both on the pool side and indoors, a sauna and hairdressers so you can treat yourself to some beauty treatments and get your hair done before your evening meal.

The variety of food at the ClubHotel Riu Ocho Rios will suit all tastes. The main restaurant serves buffet food with on the spot cooking stations meaning food such as omelettes for breakfast is hot, fresh and cooked right in front of your eyes, what can be better? Each week the main restaurant has two theme nights so you can experiment with some food you may not have tried before. A traditional Jamaican barbecue serves a range of food at lunch time, ideal for those wanting to try traditional jerk chicken at home!  Four further reservation only restaurants serving dinner from steak a la carte to Italian and Asian style buffets. Two a la carte restaurants are available exclusively to those staying in the deluxe seaside palace rooms. Snacks served 24 hours a day are available and included in your package.

Children are also catered for at hotel thanks to a two kids clubs for children aged 4-7 years and 8-12 years which hosts a daily entertainment programme. Children not going to the kids club have a playground and a kids only pool to enjoy at their leisure.

If ocean swimming in the beaches surrounding the hotel isn’t for you then there are two swimming pools surrounded by lots of sun loungers and fresh towels for the guests. The pools have two swim up bars and one at the pool side.
